It's Ride Week!

With Pelotonia opening ceremonies kicking off in five days, here are some last-minute reminders for the weekend:

Opening Ceremony will be held Friday, Aug. 5 from 3-9 p.m. at Columbus Commons, with the program starting at 7 p.m. The Team Buckeye photo will be taken in front of the main stage promptly at 5:45 p.m. Meet at the stage by 5:30 p.m. and wear your Team Buckeye jersey! Traffic is very heavy getting into Columbus Commons. Give yourself ample time to arrive and park.

Review the Pelotonia Handbook for additional event details. From parking, spectator information and more, this is your guide to all things Pelotonia.

Riders should be receiving Tickets and Parking Passes. If you have not received it, please check your spam folder. You are looking for an email from "TicketBud". Make sure to print this and your parking pass so you are not delayed at the gate!

• We are still selling our cycling caps and mirrors. We are parterning with Bike Source! They are letting us set up in the booth to sell our caps and mirrors. Stop by and visit our team that will be working on Friday! Want to order one? Click here to order

• Kickoff breakfast for Team Buckeye!
All Team Buckeye members (Riders, Virtual Riders, Volunteers) are invited to a fun and celebratory breakfast next Friday, August 5 from 8am – 10am at Brenen’s Café at the Biomedical Research Tower (outdoor café). The breakfast is a great way to start the Pelotonia weekend and to thank everyone for being a part of One Goal. Please share this link with all of your peloton members and ask them to RSVP by using the link provided below.

2 weeks left until Pelotonia and we are halfway to our goal. The last weeks are when most money is raised so don't stop asking!! I have a few more updates for you.

Team Buckeye Jersey
If you did not pick up your complimentary Team Buckeye jersey at Buckeye Biker Bash, the LAST chance to pick up your jersey before Pelotonia will be THIS WEEK, MONDAY-FRIDAY from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. Jerseys can be picked up at 660 Ackerman Road, 6th floor lobby. A friend or family member can pick up the jersey for a Rider if necessary.


Cycling Caps and Mirrors to benefit our Advancement Peloton

Buckeye Biker Bash

  • Please come join us for the annual Team Buckeye Biker Bash on Thursday, July 21, 2016. The event will be held from 5:00 PM - 8:30 PM at The Ohio Union, Potter Plaza. Come join other Team Buckeye riders, enjoy food and pick up your Team Buckeye jersey!

Team Buckeye ride with Team Huntington
  • The Team Huntington – Team Buckeye and Friends training ride is back in a slightly new format for 2016. This year’s ride is designed for new or returning riders registered for the 25 or either 50 mile rides. The route is flat, gentle, minimal hills and will offer optional clinics on Ride Safety and Bike repair as noted below. 
  • A New Format in 2016 with Three Route Distance Options: 15-Miles, 30-Miles or 45-Miles
  • Date: Saturday, July 23, 2016
  • Location: Bob Evans Corporate Headquarters, 8111 Smith's Mill Road, New Albany OH 43054
  • Optional Clinic Arrive: 7:30am - 8:00am
  • Ride Clinic: 8:00am - 8:30am (Ride Safety & On-the-Road Bicycle Repair Clinic for New/Newer Riders)
  • Ride Only Arrive 8:00am - 8:30am
  • Ride starts: 8:30am -Noon
  • Riders will receive route maps/ride information and must submit a completed/signed Rider Acknowledgement. Routes also will be marked at turns and intersections for rider safety. Limited SAG support will be available. Bob Evans HQ will serve as water/rest stop for each ride route.
  • A confirmation with rider and route information and a rider registration form and acknowledgement will be emailed to all who register before 6:00pm Friday, July 22.

Story about Susie, Pelotonia on the Patio, and other updates


Plenty of updates and info for you today!
  • If you haven't already seen it, there is a great article about our own rider, Susie O'Brien!
  • It's not too late to register or ask your friends to register for Pelotonia on the Patio!
    • $20 for complimentary drinks and tunes and $10 of that goes to the rider of your choice!
  • Team Advancement Training rides are scheduled every Thursday, but cancelled tomorrow because of Pelotonia on the Patio.
    • Join us for the training ride, then join us after for a 15% discount @ Carsonies!
  • Your Advancement Peloton planning team has been working hard on many things to help our team.
    • Check the calendar for the dates of the food trucks
    • We are working to bring food trucks to Longaberger
    • The Pizza fundraiser was a great success so we are looking to schedule another date
    • Our great creative staff are designing something for us to recognize - I love the idea!
      • More info to come as the design is created
  • We are still need your help to expand the team. 
    • Please tell your Colleagues, Friends, and Family to join as a Rider, Virtual, or Volunteer and they can join our peloton!
  • Don't forget to check out the fundraising toolkit for tips on fundraising.

Bake Sale and other upcoming events

Team Advancement,

We are doing very well! We are 18% of the way to our goal of $90K! We have 21 riders, 3 virtual riders, and 6 volunteers registered. Welcome our latest riders this week: Joe Coleman, David Chambliss, Eileen Bertolini, and Vince McGrail!!!! Our full members list is at the end of this post

The first increase for Rider Registration fees occurs on June 6. Currently non-student Rider Registration is $100. This will increase to $150 on June 6. Student Riders currently pay $50 to register and their fee will increase to $100 on June 6. Please get registered now and take advantage of the lower registration fees. Make sure to tell anyone you know who is interested in registering to sign up soon!

For those of you in town, Don't forget we are having a bake sale this Monday (5/16/16). Spread the word to others in your area and anyone else who is in or will be visiting 1480 Lane Ave.

  • Order Panera Bread either in-café or by placing Catering orders
  • Collect receipts
  • Redeem receipts with a completed Summary Page to receive a 10% donation for the Peloton or Rider of your choosing

  • Download a Summary Page here
  • Order Panera Bread from May 1-September 30, 2016 and encourage your friends, family and teammates to do so, too
  • Make sure each person who orders catering writes their name and email address on their receipt

Notes from the Pelotonia Captains' meeting

Hello Peloton members!

I have some news for you from the Team Buckeye captains meeting:

  • Buckeye Country Superfest raffle is still on!

  • A Team Buckeye raffle for OSU football tickets is coming.

  • The Pelotonia staff have put together a Fundraising Toolkit
  • YOU can win Garth Brooks tickets and a hotel stay on April 24
    • The rider or virtual rider who raises the most funds from April 1-19 will receive this awesome prize package. All donations received and posted in the member's Pelotonia profile between April 1-19 will be counted.

Buckeye Country Superfest Raffle Begins today!


Raffle Ticket Guidelines
Buckeye Country Superfest

1.     Raffle tickets will be distributed free of charge to any Team Buckeye member for the purpose of selling tickets to supplement fundraising efforts related to Pelotonia. 

2.     Raffle tickets are distributed in increments of 25 tickets per packet and are sold for $15 each or three tickets (3) for $30. More than one packet can be requested per pick-up and additional tickets can be requested while supplies last. Unsold tickets can be returned with no penalty.

3.     Raffle Tickets must be picked up at 660 Ackerman Road, Room 601G, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. or as arranged by emailing TeamBuckeye@osumc.edu .

4.     Each packet of tickets sold will directly benefit either ONE rider or ONE peloton. Tickets cannot be dispersed to various team members UNLESS all proceeds raised benefit the peloton account.  No exceptions.

5.     Payment for raffle tickets is by cash or check only.  Checks must be made payable to PELOTONIA. Write the Rider ID number OR Peloton Name in the Memo Section of the check to indicate where funds will be distributed.

6.     Under no circumstances are raffle tickets to be given away in exchange for a donation made directly to a rider’s Pelotonia profile or to a peloton’s profile page.

7.     Purchasing a raffle ticket is not a charitable contribution and no gift acknowledgement will be provided to individuals buying raffle tickets.

8.     All ticket stubs, cash and checks must be returned to 660 Ackerman Road, Room 601G NO LATER THAN FRIDAY, MAY 27 to be eligible for the drawing HELD ON THURSDAY, JUNE 2.  All unsold tickets must be returned.

9.     The following information will be recorded on a form provided by Team Buckeye staff at the time tickets, cash and checks are returned:
Total amount received (in cash and checks)
Distribution of funds to either:
a) a specific Team Buckeye member (Rider ID # required) OR
b) to a specific Team Buckeye peloton account
Date tickets and money are received

10.  Ticket Purchasers must be 18 years or older.

11.  The raffle drawing will be videotaped and the video and winner’s names will be posted on the Team Buckeye Facebook page on FRIDAY, JUNE 3.  The winners will also be notified by phone.

Raffle Alert: Buckeye Country Superfest 2016

Looking for an easy fundraising opportunity? Look no further. Team Buckeye will be raffling off two packages for this year's Buckeye Country Superfest. Two winners will receive 10 tickets in a suite in Ohio Stadium for the 2016 Buckeye Country Superfest on either Saturday, June 18, or Sunday, June 19.

Each prize package includes 10 concert tickets, three VIP parking passes, catering and non-alcoholic beverages (service charges and gratuity included).

Team Buckeye members are invited to sell raffle tickets and 100 percent of the proceeds will be applied to their personal or peloton's fundraising total. Tickets are provided free of charge to all Team Buckeye members and are to be sold for $15 each or 3 for $30. Raffle tickets and payment must be returned no later than Friday, May 27. Pelotonia '16 has new routes and the goals have changed. You also have the option of setting your stretch goal and to sign up as a "High  Roller". Your stretch goal is personal and you will not be charged that additional amount if you do not make it.
Note: If you sign up to be a High Roller, you have a new goal of $5,000. If you do not raise that much money for your ride, your credit card will be charged.
